Becky and Joshua invited us to join them in Rome, where Joshua had a conference.  

Upon arriving, Karen makes friends with a weird guy in a red suit while we were going to visit the TREVI fountain.     Then she tries to get a picture stabbing him.  

Then we couldn't get rid of him until we gave him some money.  Unfortunately he wanted 20 Euro and I was only going to give him 1 Euro.  He followed us for quite a way. 

Joshua and Becky arrive the next day.  We all had fun throwing a coin in the Trevi fountain.  

We had a great time at the Colosseum

hhe Rome Temple was beautiful. 

We went to the Borghese Museum.  I love the Bernini sculpture of David. 

Enjoyed some pasta at a popular pasta place.  We had some non-coffee Tiramisu

We climbed all the steps to the top of the Basilica.  (actually Becky and Joshua took all the steps and Karen and Bud took the elevator up half way.  We still had over 350 steps.)

The view was amazing on top. 

Sistine Chapel 

When we visited Rome in 2013 they were electing a new Pope, so the Sistine Chapel was closed during the election.   This time we got to visit the Vatican Museum.  The ceiling in the chapel is amazing.  This photo does not do it credit. 

Loved all the sites of Rome and enjoyed the street music. 

The Mouth of Truth.  Legend has it if you lie and put your hand in the mouth it will bite you.  Luckily no one lost their had trying when we were there.  

Off to Sorrento as our home base as we explored the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, and the island of Capri

We ventured to Sorrento.  Pompei was very wet.

We finally got to take a boat over to the island of Capri 

We enjoyed lots of pizza , pasta, calzones.  Even had to wait in a line in the rain one night to get into a restraunt.   

Becky and Joshua headed home 

Bud and Karen headed for the Cinque Terre.  Out first night we enjoyed a concert in Vernazza. 

Karen was looking for the perfect Charcutier board, Bud was looking for the perfect fish.  

We both enjoyed the fried Calamari.  

We had fun exploring the cemeteries 

We loved the Cinque Terre.  We visited there in  2001 and fell in love with the area.  

Just as beautiful now.
