Nauvoo Trip

Nauvoo Trip (by way of visiting Ethan Swift - newest member to the Little Gang)

Ethan was the real reason for the trip. He was born May 7th, 2008, so we included a trip to Independence and Nauvoo.

Of course, sweet Julia was great to visit.

Grandpa loves to hold Julia, when possible.

After play with the grandkids and putting a new laminate floor in the Swift's kitchen, off to Independence.

The Community of Christ has an impressive temple in Independence.

On the way is a cute little town, called Jamesport. They have the largest population of Amish people outside of Penn. It is common to see horse drawn carriages on the road.
X
We also found a great little town of Jameson. (We took this in honor of Tyler Jameson Little)

Looking over the valley at Adam-Ondi-Ammon

Preacher's rock in Adam-Ondi-Ammon - so why not do a little preaching

Display at Far West

Hannibal Mo, the birthplace of Mark Twain is on the way to Nauvoo.

Bud standing in front of one of his heroes.

What would Hannibal be without a steam ship.

The main thing to see in Nauvoo is the temple. Reconstructed from the old temple.

Most of the houses were built with brick. The church has restored many of the brick homes in Nauvoo.

Carthage - where the Prophet Joseph and his brother Hyrum were martyred.

By the banks of the Mississippi river.

Nauvoo House - home of Joseph and Emma

On the way we stopped by St. Louis and took a look at the famous Arch.

Back to Stillwater, OK for the blessing of Ethan.

One last goodbye and we are on our way home.
