Mission to Japan - 1972-1974

 Mission to Japan - 1972-1974

I served my mission in the Japan East Mission, later changed to Japan Sapporo and Japan Sendai .

Most of our bathrooms did not have flushing toilets.  They would come and pump them out every few months.  Also, most did not have our 'throne' toilet.

Truck to pump out toilet.

In some areas we did not have a shower, we used the Public Bath.  It was great!

Inu Indians were in the Sapporo area.  They had white skin and beards which Japanese don't have.

Pachinko machines.   (We really didn't gamble.)
Students wore uniforms.

Every year in Sapporo they had their Ice Festival.  The missionaries even built one every year.

Sometime we would dress up for festivals.

My group from the LTM (Language Training Mission)

Typical church.  We slept upstairs and the members had church downstairs.

Making O-Mochi at a orphanage.   They invited us over for a New Years celebration after we dressed up like Santa for Christmas.

Trains of all sorts .

We sang at a Rest Home and they intern taught us to dance.

Lots of snow in the winter.
